How to Create and Analyze Likert/Survey Assessments

Published:

BrainCert’s Assessment module supports two types of assessments: Pass/Fail and Likert/Survey. While Pass/Fail assessments are designed to evaluate learner knowledge with scores and outcomes, Likert/Survey assessments focus on capturing learner feedback, opinions, and perceptions without scoring or pass/fail results.

This article will guide you through how to configure a Likert/Survey assessment and how to use Survey Reports to analyze responses, track trends, and gain meaningful insights from your learners.

Step 1: Navigate to the Assessment

Go to 'Products' → 'Assessments'. 1

Step 2: Open the Assessment Options

Choose an existing assessment or create a new one using the '+Create a Test' button.

Step 3: Set the Assessment Type

Under 'Assessment Type', select 'Likert / Survey'.

3

Step 4: Configure Settings

Configure the settings

Set Allow test taker to review answers after finishing this test to Yes or No.

In Likert/Survey mode, this option may have a limited effect since scoring is disabled, but enabling it allows learners to revisit their responses.

Click 'Submit' to save all configuration settings.

4

Step 5: Learner Completes the Assessment

Learners access and complete the survey assessment from their learner portal. Their responses are recorded for reporting purposes.

Step 6: Access the Survey Report

Go to 'Reports & Analytics' → 'Survey Report' to view collected response data.

Step 7: Select Assessments

Use the 'Select Assessments' dropdown to choose up to 2 assessments for Pre/Post comparison analysis.

Step 8: Review Question Distribution

The 'Question Distribution' section shows how learners responded to each question across both the Pre and Post assessments, with individual percentage breakdowns per question.

6

Step 9: Check Question Match Status

Each question displays a Matched or Unmatched status. Matched questions appear in both assessments and are eligible for comparison.

7

Step 10: Use the Swap Pre/Post Toggle

Use the Swap Pre – Post option to reverse the comparison direction if assessments were assigned in a different order than intended.

8

Step 11: Review Learner-Level View

The Learner-Level View shows individual learner Pre Score, Post Score, Change, and Completion date, allowing you to track performance at the individual level.

9

Step 12: Review the Program Summary

The Program Summary provides an at-a-glance overview.

10

Step 13: Review Top Improved Questions

The Top Improved Questions section highlights which questions showed the most improvement between Pre and Post assessments, helping identify the most effective learning areas.

10

Step 14: Review Unmatched Questions

Check the Unmatched Questions section to identify any questions that could not be compared.

If all questions are matched, a confirmation message will appear: "No unmatched questions — every Likert question has a matching pair across both assessments."

11

Step 15: Export the Report

Click 'Export' and choose your preferred format: 'CSV, Excel, or PDF' to download the survey report for external use or record-keeping.

BrainCert's Likert/Survey assessment type provides a structured, non-scored way to collect meaningful learner feedback and measure the impact of your training programs. By configuring your Pre and Post surveys carefully, particularly by ensuring consistent question text across both, you can leverage the Pre/Post Comparison Report to gain clear, data-driven insights into how learner perceptions and awareness have evolved.
