Using Virtual Classroom for Proctored Assessments: A Step-by-Step Guide

Proctoring is an essential feature for ensuring the integrity of online assessments. BrainCert's Virtual Classroom (VC) can be seamlessly integrated with the assessment module to provide a strong proctoring solution.

This guide will help you understand how to use BrainCert's VC as a proctoring tool, allowing proctors to monitor learners through screen sharing, with the option to record the session for future reference.

Follow these steps to set up and conduct proctored assessments.

Schedule a Class in a Virtual Classroom

Step 1:

Log in to your BrainCert account. Navigate to ' Products' and select ' Schedule Class' under ' Virtual Classroom'.

Step 2:

Fill in the class details and make sure to select ' Record Live Class' and ' Enable Screen Sharing'. Once done, click ' Save' to schedule the class.

Launch the Class

Step 3:

At the scheduled time, launch the class from ' Manage Classes'.

You can also invite the learners by clicking on the ' Options' tab in the class.

Invite By Email: Send an email invitation directly to the learners.

Enroll Individual Students: Add students manually to the class.

Invite User Group: Invite a predefined group of users.

Step 4:

To enable learners to share their screens, click on the icon at the bottom right corner.

Step 5:

Now, you'll see the ' Allow to Screenshare' option under the learner's name. Click on it to enable screen sharing.

Create a Shareable Link for the Assessment

Step 6:

Navigate to ' Assessment' in your dashboard. Click on the options next to the desired test and s elect ' Get Shareable Link'.

Step 7:

Click on the ' +Create Shareable Link' icon.

Step 8:

Fill in the required details and ' Submit ' to create the shareable link.

Step 9:

Click on the options of the shareable link and select ' Link' from the given options.

Step 10:

Copy the generated link using the icon.

Conduct the Proctored Assessment

Step 11:

Navigate back to the Virtual Classroom. Paste the copied URL (assessment link) in the chat.

Step 12:

Instruct the learner to share the ' Entire screen' using the screen-sharing feature.

You can now proctor the assessment through your virtual classroom.

Monitor the assessment process in real-time. The entire virtual session will be recorded and can be reviewed for post-exam purposes.

Viewing Recorded Proctoring Videos

Step 13:

Navigate to 'Product' --> 'Virtual Classroom' and select 'Manage Class'.

Step 14:

Choose the class you want to view and click 'View Class Recording'.

Step 15:

Play the recording to view the test taker's proctored session video.

Step 16:

Or navigate to the 'Recordings' section within the 'Virtual Classroom'. Select the desired recording and play the recording to view the proctoring video.

By following these steps, you can effectively use BrainCert's Virtual Classroom for proctored assessments, ensuring both security and integrity in your examination process.
